Interior Architecture + Design : Nubuor Designs
Inspired by their childhood memories in the Mount Desert area, my client acquired a 4 building, 16 acre property with a private beach on one of Maine’s idyllic islands. Built in the 1800’s the property came with all the charm of a classic New England home. Wide plank floors, colorful patterned wallpaper, quirky layouts, and a fireplace so beautiful, it was donated to the MET!
Nubuor Designs has been hired to provide design services for interior renovations and furniture design. This is a multi-phased, years long renovations of four buildings that comprise an expansive historic 1800s estate.
Scope includes furnishings, material and finish selections, and some major renovations to 3 of the buildings on the property.
This project is ongoing.
Main House: Look + Feel Inspiration Boards
Appropriately named, the main structure on this property is also the oldest. It has 4 beds and is where the primary bedroom is located. Set further into the land, it enjoys great views of the boat house beyond, while also being protected by the trees on the property. The brief for the interior design of this building is to embrace the historic charm, quirks, and well-lived in quality of a home that has well, been lived in.
Boat House: Look + Feel Inspiration Boards
This structure is located a mere feet from the water. It enjoys more than 180 degree fews of the private beach. The brief for the design for this space is relaxed furniture paired with and light fabrics and strategic pops of color. This no fuss laid back interior design approach allows the uninterrupted views of the water to be the focal point of this house.
